Greetings Earthlings!

Welcome to our humble dwelling at SEA9.ORG!!

It is under perpetual renovation, so please bear with us. We are software developers and enjoy sharing our for-fun projects here for... well... fun... There are also other sections dedicated to our other hobbies and interests too!

Projects

I've worked on numerous open source projects on my own, but so far managed to publish these 2 only... and both are Android apps for some reason...

Secret Pad LogoSecret Pad

Available from the Google Play Store, use it to protect notes, passwords, or any other secret messages stored on your Android device with a master password. Data is stored encrypted in the build-in SQLite database, and can be exported to text files in encrypted form.

The first question many people asked is "How can I trust you with all my passwords?" Well, there are 2 reasons:

  1. I give you my word that I'm not collecting any information with this app...
  2. If you try to install the app you'll see it require no networking permission at all, it doesn't even have ad. So bottom line is if you trust Google then you can trust this app... pretty weak I'll admit :)
  3. You can get the source code to see for yourselves... (I know I said 2 reasons, but #1 is really not a reason...)

This is an open-source software, and is released under the GNU GPLv2 license. Source code is available on GitHub.

Where's Our Car LogoWhere's Our Car

Available from the Google Play Store, it is just a simple little app for quickly marking where you parked your car. There are 4 fields you can use:

  1. Vehicle name or plate number
  2. Car park name
  3. Floor
  4. Parking space number

Someone may ask, WHAT? You are not using GPS? In the city I live, most car parks are indoors. However in version 2.1.0 onward, Location Awareness is added experimentally.

Two reasons for using Where's Our Car over a simple notes taking app:

  1. An App-Widget to put on your home screen showing the Floor and Parking space number.
  2. Possible for others to subscribe to your vehicle parking info via Google Cloud Messaging (GCM)... and thus the name of the app...

Well... to be able to share your vehicle parking info via the Publish function, you'll need to create a Google API project, so that you can send messages to other device via GCM. Instructions can be found in here.

And before someone ask... no, i will not let you use my Google API project key...

This is an open-source software, and is released under the GNU GPLv2 license. Source code is available on GitHub.

Hobbies

Alpine Skiing

Tried skiing for the first time in Banff, Canada. Now visit S. Korea and/or Japan twice a year to ski. I consider myself an intermediate beginner, always trying to improve...

Yong Pyong is the one I go frequently. Not particularly good in terms of the snow, but its affortable, and the trails are ok...

Cycling

I have a Paratrooper fold bike which I like very much :) My Paratrooper

Driving

This title make it sounds like I'm a racing driver or something, but in fact I'm just a regular driver with below average skill... In the city I now live, commuting by car is plain stupid. Owning and driving a car has to be something you enjoy, otherwise one will choose the highly developed public transportation system...

Interests

Si-fi novels

My enlightment came from a book by Dr. Eddy Lee, who wrote it under the pseudonym which literally means "Reversing Entropy", kind of a cool name. He made me aware that the so call science fictions my friend and I read during that time were... well... just fiction... at best... It was from Dr Lee that I first heard about the big names like Isaac Asimov and Frank Herbert.

Then I came across the works (e.g. The City Trilogy) by Dr. Shi-Kuo Chang, who gave me the first taste of what true science fictions is like. Just heard he published a new trilogy after all these years, must go find a copy now...

Afterward I lost count of the Si-fi novels I read. Starting from master pieces like the Foundation Series and Dune, I'm now reading the works from contemporary UK authors such as Peter F. Hamilton, Neal Asher, and Iain Banks.

Star Trek

I guess this one is not hard to guess... But unlike most fans, my favourites are Deep Space Nine, and J. J. Abrams' 'reboot' version...

Batman

Batman is the coolest superhero, period. Mainly because he is a regular guy. A very rich guy of course, but still, a regular guy...
